A college application is a form, or series of forms, a student must complete in order to be considered for admissions at that particular college or university. This page will focus solely on 4-year college applications. If you are interested in the community college application process, please refer to the “Community College” page.
Contents of an Application:
- The application
- Essay(s)
- Letter(s) of Recommendation
- Test Scores (ACT and/or SAT)
- Resume (or a list of extracurricular activities)
Most college applications are completed and submitted electronically. Most college applications are found on a school’s website on their admissions page. However, there are a number of schools that use college application hubs, which allow students to complete multiple college applications in a shorter amount of time and within one location. Such application hubs include Common Application (CommonApp), Coalition for Access, Affordability, and Equity (CoalitionApp), and Common Black College Application.
